A Message From The Northern Lakes Chapter President
Greetings from Northern Lakes!
Thank you to all of you who attended our last meeting in Eau Claire and thank you to everyone who helped man the ACFSA booth at the show. We made contact with several people who were interested in joining this fine organization and hopefully we will see them soon at one of our meetings. I would also like to thank our Local partner, Tom Gillet, and all the fine folks at Indianhead Foodservice Distributors (IFD) for once again providing us with a meeting space and a booth. The members of Northern Lakes sincerely appreciate the support you give to the ACFSA and Northern Lakes.
You should have all gotten your latest edition of the Insider Magazine and I hope you will take the time to read it. There are many good articles in this addition and several from Northern lakes very own, Phil Atkinson. Phil is dedicated to the ACFSA and Northern lakes and we are excited to stand by his side as he moves through the Presidential succession on the International level. This summer he will advance from Vice President Elect / Treasurer to Vice President. Way to go Phil!
The rooms at the Hyatt in New Orleans are starting to fill up. Now is a good time to book that room for the International Conference in August. This is going to be a great conference. Take a look at the agenda so far and see for yourself. Northern Lakes is working on a strong presence in New Orleans and besides all the activities we have a few of our own planned. Northern Lakes is going to participate in the basket challenge to support the International Scholarship Fund and also do a fundraiser in New Orleans with a lot of great prizes. The proceeds from that will help support our Chapter Scholarship fund. Stay tune for more information.
Check back often for the latest happenings in Northern Lakes

This Week in History
This week marks the 28th anniversary of the signing of the proclamation of “National Correctional Officers’ Week.” In 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed Proclamation 5187 designating the first full week in May, National Correctional Officers’ Week. The proclamation was created to honor correctional officers and correctional personnel nationwide for the work they do.
Correctional Officer Cooks at the Ramsey County Correctional Facility in Saint Paul, Minnesota will prepare a special meal of chicken wings, baked potatoes, and assorted baked goods for all the facility staff to recognize the important work they do.
Correctional Officer / Cook II, Gary Wiggins from the Ramsey County Correctional Facility in Saint Paul, Minnesota is one of thousands of correctional staff from across the country who will be honored this week for National Correctional Officer's Week.

Do you have an article for the Insider?
You should have received the most recent issue of the Insider. The Insider is one of the benifits of belonging to ACFSA. Each issue is full of information that pertains to our industry. Do you think there is something in your operation worth telling everyone about? It could be relating to the way you handle special diet, or grow a garden. It could be an inmate program that teaches cooking or baking. Whatever it is, we want to hear about it!
If you would like to submit an article for the Insider or if you would like more information on submitting an article please contact Teddie Mitchell at: teddie.Mitchell@co.shawano.wi.us
